The VA continues to grow worse with dr’s that deliberately go out of their way to set you off so that they point fingers and call you crazy. The girls in the front of Tango clinic sit around chatting and laughing it up kid to wake the dead is infuriating. Glad they get paid to goof off on the job.

Bradley B. Ontario, CA Jun 5, 2024 I am a 23yr retiree who served 23+ years and almost 3 yrs in Aghanistan. I was diagnosed with stage 2 colorectal cancer a year ago that is now stage 4 and it’s not looking good for me. The Long Beach and Loma Linda hospitals are about as bad as it gets. More veterans need to complain about the West Coast VA hospital system. Lastly, the VA will transfer your calls for an hour before you give up! Don’t give up and contact your congressman in your district and do a congressional. That’s the only thing that works. The West Coast VA health system is the worst health system in America – look it up.

I will keep it short and simple. Waited over 8 hours before getting seen by a doctor after getting vitals and lab work done. No one tells you any wait times besides “it’s going to be a long wait”. Call the White House complainant hotline
855-948-2311
If your at the hospital ask for a phone to call the AOD.
Press 0 to speak to AOD on the hospital phone. (The hotline gave me this information to try and get progress in the ER)

Worst experience ever. Girlfriend and I came in at 9pm on the Thursday night for a wrist injury. She was not seen until 5:30am. Now I’d understand if the ER was full but it was absolutely not maybe 7 people if that. As a matter of fact multiple people walked out saying they’d been waiting for close to 8 hours and still no type of assistance. Better off going anywhere else that offers medical assistance even if the VA is cheaper.

Where do I start? My Uncle got Esophageal cancer that was a direct of Agent Orange during his term in Viet Nam. Of course the doctors denied it was a result of that but they’re second rate doctors anyway. So they recommend surgery to remove the esophagus and relocate his stomach up to the neck area, which worked for his military brothers who had the same issue. Except they botched my Uncle’s surgery and the surgery site was not closed efficiently which
Caused the area to heal wrong. Meanwhile his surgeon went on vacation immediately Post-op without doing any checks on him or appointing a fill-in physician to do any aftercare! Then he was mysteriously AWOL (the doctor) never to return to the Loma Linda VA Hospital. My uncle couldn’t eat like he should have been able to; food was getting caught and he would choke, couldn’t breathe properly and caused him so much misery and stress. The cancer had been 100% removed, so he was told, but the cancer came back and he was put on chemo, radiation etc. and was told he had 2 months to live. The VA did nothing to rectify this mistake and he was on and off treatments that did nothing to improve his miserable condition and his horrible quality of life. The family tried different homeopathic, natural and unconventional medicines/treatments and he lived for 7 years after the 2 month left of life statement they have. The cancer eventually killed him but at least he was away from those incompetent doctors and substandard care they provide. The word “care” should never be associated with VA because they simply DO NOT CARE.

Would like to give in zero stars. If I had a choice, I would choose to go elsewhere. The parking is crazy. Appointments are impossible to get. They don’t answer the phone (most cases…some departments are better than others) I am a 100% disabled service connected combat veteran. The county should be ashamed of doing this to us.

I don’t like writing negative reviews but unfortunately I can’t give this place more than 1 star. My husband is a veteran and had an appointment here (even though it’s at least 2 hrs away from where we live) and it was an extremely frustrating experience! We made the drive, parked and checked him in for his appointment. We sat in the waiting area for 2 hours and they never called him back to be seen. Eventually we lost our patience and my husband asked at the check in desk what was going on. The woman told my husband “sorry, the doctor has already left for the day, you’ll have to reschedule”. To me, that’s unacceptable! 4 hours we wasted already and now we had to face a 3 hour drive back home in rush hour traffic…..all for nothing. Thankfully we got an appointment closer to home and got the testing done that my husband needed. I hope we never have to go back here again.

The VA medical center at Loma Linda screwed me again. My outside Doctor ordered a neck brace in Apr 2019. When I did not get it just before my operation, I started tracking it down. The outside doctor reordered it 3 days before my operation. I was told to call PM&R and talk to a person, by name and she said she did not talk to any one at the doctors office and did not know anything about a brace. She was very rude and gave me a very hard time! Both faxed orders had their confer numbers. The deck person was ever rude and gave me the run around. I told him I was told to come in, he told me no one at VA would tell you to just come in without an appointment. I said they did. He then called my a LIAR. So I took it on myself and went in to PM&R and got the brace just after closing time! Without the brace I would not get the needed operation!
You report things like this to the VA director and they do nothing at all!
Things like this put a lot of extra stress on you, when you have very bad PTSD.
THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TO ME A NUMBER OF TIMES!

I was to have an operation this week outside of VA with TriWest (one day from now). All pre ops and labs done. Different department gave me a very hard time getting all the required documentation required by the doctor. I was told by someone at the VA Loma Linda Hospital and the Orthopaedic Medical Group that someone at the VA called TriWest and cancel it. I called TriWest and they authorized it all over again, so it is ok now. However, who would do something like this? If this happens to you, don’t wait Call TriWest right away! I know I have made a few doctors mad, and people in a number of clinics mad too, by reporting them. PLEASE CHECK ALL YOUR FACTS BEFORE YOU NOTIFY ANYONE. I had to call the White House Complain Hot line for help. Their phone no. 855-948-2311. I am very tried of getting screwed by them! They keep asking me to fill out a survey, a number of times, HOWEVER I HAVE NEVER GOT ONE, from them! Remember made sure your facts are correct and true.

Last month we had an appointment for new hearing aides after 4 years of use of the old ones. We drove from Beaumont to the appointment to discover the new aides were not working. No one called us ahead of time to cancel and reschedule they just blamed the manufacturer. We returned today for an appointment. Mike Lindeman was the technician who handled us. He was outstanding! Relaxed and patient with us. His instructions were clear and helpful. He has such a calming professional manner that we ended up with a very pleasant visit and we were successful with new hearing aides.
The parking still sucks especially since the employees are taking the handicapped spots in front of the building but with employees like Mike our visit was one of the best.

Here I go again: The VA hospital Loma Linda, I requested a new primary doctor and they assigned the same one I got rid of years ago. So I requested another one. They did give me one. This doctor ask why I wanted to change, so I told her the truth, BIG MISTAKE! She turn her tone and attitude toward me worse than the one she replaced. First she reduce my pain medication from 40 mg to 15 mg ( my pain level of 9 – 10) and my PTSD and sleep problems from 200 mg to 150 mg (this dosage did not work before). After many years with the VA they never could not control any of problems. So again I ask for another primary doctor. This one would not correct the medications dosages. I had to write to the director and the patient advocate both did not reply. So then I call the White House Complaint Hotline (855 948-2311 24/7). They will check into this problem within 14 days. I have use them a number of times, also got help each time! (so call if needed help) I also call the Community Care at VA hospital Loma Linda and TriWest, both told me to sent the new primary doctor the part of the authorization letter that tells the Community Care doctor how to prescribed medication and fax it to the VA pharmacy. After this was given to my new primary doctor he corrected the dosage. Told me he was sorry. This is a first! My last primary doctor before she was replaced I only talked to her for about 20 minutes and she new all may medical problems or concerns, in 20 minutes and not even asking any questions about what I think or my concerns! This screw up took about 3 to 4 weeks to correct. SO MY ADVICE TO ALL PUSH HARD AND CALL THE WHITE HOUSE COMPLAINT HOTLINE!! Good luck!

WARNING! If you have a primary you don’t like and request a new one, DON’T TELL THE NEW PRIMARY DOCTOR WHY YOU REQUESTED!!! You will be in a lot of SHIT! I was on pay medication of 40mg of norcos and as soon as I told the truth why I wanted to change doctors She reduced the norcos to 15mg a day. Now she does not answer any of my secure message. As you may know that norcos only last about 3 to 4 hours. I requested that she reconsider her radical position about my pain medication, NO ANSWER!
She wanted me to see pain management but I told her that ” due to all the SHIT they put me through over many years using the same medications that don’t work. Having me take it over and over. Pain management has lied to me about labs and told me if I don’t what they want they would make sure I never get any pain medications at all”. I requested to go Community care, she did but community care lost the referral so I ask her to resubmit it. This now has been weeks.

Loma Linda VA hospital doctors are status quo absolutely have NOT changed for the better. In fact their still doing their same old shit. No concern for the well fair of the Veteran and not considering for the Veterans input for their own medical care! In fact it is getting much worse. In June 2007 a survey was conducted on Loma Linda VA hospital getting ONE star out of 5 for quality of care, pain management and the orthopedic clinic, according to Washington DC Veterans Affair.
I just change my primary doctor and she seems to be the same as all the other primary doctors I have had.
If need help getting quality care or anything the VA hospital refuses to help you with, like lack of any pain management control or getting assigned to the Mission Act. Call the: White House Complaint Hot Line at 1-855-948-2311. They take calls 24/7, this hot line will help! Pain management refuses to assign any Veteran to the Mission Act, They state it makes them LOOK BAD! I tried asking them many many times, they keep saying NO, it will not help you? Other departments have assigned me out three times and with one operation they corrected my problems. The VA operated 16 times on my eyes and five times on my shoulder NOT correcting anything. But just making my problems much WORSE and refusing to order any pain medication!!! Good luck.

I been getting acupuncture for my lower back pain, it was working but the
acupuncturist had to have an operation and could not continue with my treatment. This made my pain level go back to 10, the max. I call my primary doctor four times (leaving messages) over months and also sent a message on myhealthyevet asking for help until the acupuncturist returned. He never answered me in any way!
I had this primary doctor before, I had numerous problems with him, like he would not listen to my medical concerns, treat me like a third rate citizen, very condensation, and just NOT caring about any thing you were going through. With him it was always a one way conversation, HIM ONLY, not the vet. HE HAS NOT CHANGED HIS ATTITUDE TOWARD THE VET!
I would only gave him a -star!

Primary Doctor refused to renew the disabled placard for my vehicle. The Physical Therapy clinic scheduled 3 separate visits where no services were rendered, eventually deciding to discharge me without providing care. Had to go back to my primary doctor to re issue the physical therapy consultation under a technicality. It has now been 6 months without care for my service connected ailments because of this facility’s bureaucratic failures. This facility has caused me great stress and substantially increased the pain I live with daily. There is absolutely no comparison to a private medical care provider. The VA is allowed to defraud veterans in a way that no private practice can, for fear of legal retribution. Every single time I have visited the Loma Linda care facilities, the medical staff has entered fraudulent, inaccurate and purposefully misleading information on my medical records. The VA network is completely broken and does irreparable damage to every veteran who walks through their doors. Calling the “service” they provide “health care” is outright fraud. They absolutely do not care. Their is no oversight and when something damages you further, as the veteran they are suppose to be “servicing,” there is absolutely no redress of grievances. This VA facility is no more than a “stop loss” or “loss prevention center,” denying disabled service members care related to their service connected injuries. I’m subsequently changing my review rating from a three star (when I was new to the facility and had high hopes for the care the render), to a one star, which actively represents the sloth and apathy embodied by this facility and the providers who hide behind it’s insulation. An entire staff of self serving yes men and women who are so devoid of organic care, that it would be impossible even to monetize an incentive for these empty people that man the battle-stations of a soulless and broken system that feeds 22 veterans a day to an early grave.
Amor C. Dodge City, KS Jan 25, 2018 This emergency room is a joke. I was sitting in the emergency room with my heart hurting for more than 6 hours. Nobody ever came out to help me. At one point the nurse in the front desk got into an argument with another employee. I’m sure if I would’ve gone to Mexicali I would’ve had real help. It’s crazy how a veteran feels he needs to go to another country to find actual help.
Andrew B. Corona, CA Jan 20, 2015 First to Review Brought my dad to his appointment here at the VA Hospital. Doctors are great. Parking not so much. Have to say this facility has the worst parking ever!! Could not find parking to save my life. Ran into a Vet who filled me in and said if u are not here by or before 8 u won’t get a parking spot. My dads appointment was at 10:30am. Had to drop him off and wait at the nearby Carls Jr. Until he was ready to be picked up!!

Mind you, Im a reservist and work full time also….
I finally find a therapist willing to virtual see me to help me help my son (because I had not been able to find him his own child therapist, I finished my sessions back in Aug and after having to make a million calls to the VA and this Therapy office I call and they say the request for therapy was approved. I ask the lady if anyone was going to call and let me know or if I was expected to comtinie calling from my job? Of course shes just reading a screen, doesnt know. I ask who I can complain to and its I dont know. Thats fine, but while the VA was screwing me over, I have had a house fire in which my dog died, major car issues, stressful job, plus reserves, plus plus plus…. and so its like, so, you are serving, having life catastrophies and the VA is over there typing notes in my screen and still using fax to communicate with the outside world like this is 1998.
Im mot suicidal, but if I were this is the kind of stuff the VA is failing miserably at. Its great your people are so nice but the red tape, faulty processes, dead ends being transfered, calls being forwarded to my old therapist costed me 2.5 months to renew. Now, it took me several years to find a “good” therapist that was willing to see us on a Saturday……and I probably lost my Saturday spot due to this. Again. I work full time, Im a reservist, I am a single Mom. I cant afford to take off work to go to the VA.

I’ve never had a problem checking in until today. I was told there is no supervisor for this department. This is ridiculous. No hello at the main floor counter. No hello at laboratory counter. My husband and I entered the “office” that did not have a door to separate us from the other patients sitting in the waiting room just 20 feet away. The woman working in the registration office was cold and irritated immediately. She informed us of a cost that was unforeseen to us. Upon asking questions about the cost and asking her to explain the deductible to us we got short answers that really didn’t explain anything. When I asked questions to clarify she said “I’ve already explained this to you” in a very rude tone. At this point my husband and I got up to exit the room to discuss how we wanted to pay for this unforeseen cost. The woman said very loudly and in a condescending voice “Don’t you care about your baby?” The whole waiting room and the receptionist could hear. It was humiliating. What a sad way to represent a hospital that claims Christ. My husband and I tried filing a complaint against this woman over my chart and got no response. So we sent an email and the response we got only addressed the unforeseen cost and not the humiliating and shaming words this woman said to my husband and I. I am beyond disappointed and upset with the “service” provided by this woman and the relations care specialist who responded to our email, Martina Salib. I hope no mother ever has to be shamed for considering all options at the time of care again at Loma Linda, but if that woman still works there then I fear that will be a regular occurrence. Loma Linda claims to have excellent service, and although that is true of the Nursing staff, it is clearly NOT the case for front of house staff.

I went there today at 11am stood in a line of maybe 6 people. Got to the counter for eligibility at 11:55. I was told to fill out 3 long forms and get back in line. It was now after 12 and the line was now about 6 more people. I walked to the counter and told them to shred my forms, I won’t be back. The service here is ridiculous.

This was my experience today:
Walks into the care center *screened for fever and asked the standard covid questions.
*Check in at front desk
* I couldn’t hear the man at the front desk so I scoot up past the blue tape a little
* Right as I do this the man’s eyes become very wide and frantic
He says : ” ma’am can you please stay back!”
I think to myself are you kidding there are three people in this cubical he is in and they are all three closer than me and this man. We both have masks on as well.
I also think to myself what kind of power trip is this?
He then says no one is being accepted for appointments
I ask the man why I didn’t get a call stating my appointment had been changed.
He attentively continues to focus on what he is doing on his computer
I then asked again was it someone’s job at this front desk?
He did not acknowledge me and continues to fiddle with his computer
I asked him are you just going to ignore me, sir?
He replied that is was someone’s job.
I then asked was it your job?
He changed the subject and said he had booked me an appointment for later to shut me up and stop me from asking any more questions
I could tell the other two staff in this cubical were listening in on the one way frustrating conversation I was having with him because the two front desk workers lowered the tone of their voices.
It was uncomfortable, embarrassing, and disrespectful.
I left annoyed
I spoke with Dr. Lihn
And she seems to be more helpful than any other doctors I have seen at the VA and I’ve had a few.
The worst part about being sick is the VA hospital, in my experiences (rancho and both Loma Linda clinics), have treated me horrible. I’m in pain and I can’t even be treated with compassion let alone as a respectable human being. Some of the staff have no empathy let alone sympathy.

My husband had a follow up appointment today to see if he can continue care for physical therapy. Pretty simple and to the point visit. Then came Dr. Cunanan. Why he is taking care of our veterans is beyond me. The doctor comes in and states that my husband no longer needs physical therapy because the “notes” from there told him that my husband has gotten better. If he had actually seen the notes that his therapist wrote out for him, he would be able to see that he needs to continue care. My husband then calls his therapist to see if the notes can get emailed to him, they gladly sent it out. Nowhere in the notes does it state that he is better, improved yes, but they recommend for him to keep receiving these services. Also the doctor not once performed any range of motion or any sort of test to see how he was doing. So to cut to the point, they sent a other nurse saying the doctor is going to refuse to see him now and he is going to have to make another appointment. However the nurse was extremely helpful and I wish I knew his name to thank him for his help. This is no way to treat a combat veteran. A doctor should actually care and listen, they have gone through a lot and they deserve much more respect.

They recommend a must closer control on following procedures and a MUST closer look at giving out pain meds. In addition they recommend that the doctors pay must closer attention to the what the vets are telling them!

This is the poorest hospital in CA. They operated on my eye over 16 times and they are still in very bad condition and they operated on my shoulder damaging the rotator cuff so bad it can’t be repaired, and gave a very bad infection. Five times they screwed it up and now the pain is 10 and my movement is very limited. They have liar so many times to me. I did two surveys for the DVA and have ask the directors staff and patient advocate for the completed surveys and was told ” we do not get the results”. So I ask how do you know if you need improvement? DAV told me to get these results through them. What are they hiding? Write the government to get the results. I have never been more disappointed with a Veterans organization as I was today. We had an appointment at 26001 Redlands Blv. CA. with the DAV to enlist the help of Eric Porche. My 90 year old father who is a Korean War Vet with numerous health issues, seems to be getting the run-around from the VA and now the DAV who was chartered to assist VETS. Our appointment was at 9:00 A.M so we arrived 15 minutes early. We were told Eric must not be coming in. The GOV. workers in the office were rude. They acted like we were bothering them and stated he would have arrived already if he intended to come in. I called both numbers I have for Eric, (909)583-6016 and (909)894-7857 and left voice mails indicating to Eric we were here and waiting in the lobby area. We waited 40 minutes for Eric to at least have the courtesy to return my calls. While we waited we sat there listening to Horror Story after Horror Story from VETS young and old. We have been to VA Facilities in Loma Linda, Rancho Cucamonga, etc. Everyone we encountered at this location was short, rude and unprofessional. Shameful… It is now 7:45 PM and I still haven’t heard from Eric Porche. The sad part is the DAV was recommended to me by a Department of Veteran Affairs SR. Vice Commander from FL. I have heard this process can take years…… I’m thinking my dad doesn’t have this long. Sad and disappointed.

I also was informing her about a lump I felt on my right breast. She laughed and said that she’s a women who’s has had a lump for over 2 years and that as a man I shouldn’t worry. Not sure how that makes sense and that wasn’t something I wanted to be told as I find a lump in my breast. NEVER RECOMMENDING THIS PLACE EVER. Horrible customer service with no regard towards those they are service. Be better. I am not going to be silent about this complaint.

Their response to emails is to the effect that the doctor is being advised of it. Days may pass before a doctor responds. The response usually doesn’t address the concern of your email. Messages go back and forth for days until you may, get an answer to your question.
Often, after you send the same question that was never answered a number of times, the response will be that they never got the original email you sent. Then you question will be further ignored.
Their attitude is that if they ignore you long enough, you will die or get treated elsewhere. That way they do not have to bother with you.
If at all possible, avoid the VA. They do not care about the veterans, only how to avoid work. Sign up for Medicare if you can.

It appears most the people that work at the Rancho VA clinic don’t really care and they’re just going through the motions. The service providers need to have some sort of performance reviews. Or even better, after each appointment, you should be issued some sort of survey form with the Dr’s name and work location on it. The VA should also provide a drop box or mailing address to turn the forms in.
Another idea would be to give the veteran an option of going to this shitty clinic or go to a civilian primary care provider.

I had to do my own diagnosis and get referrals to treat them. I asked many times to get tests done but they thought I was wrong, and they were right. Jokes on them and me, I was right and they were wrong but, I am now behind the eight ball on my treatment because it’s coming too late!
Thanks Rancho VA!
Avoid this place for physical treatment, I haven’t had any experience with their mental help staff.
As for the good review that states, there is an empty waiting room……. that’s because it takes 2 months to get an appointment. They don’t see anyone, it seems. Why does it take so long to get an appointment if there is no one in the waiting room to be seen? You be the judge!
It’s a crying shame!!!!!!!

Never, ever go here. Absolutely terrible. The staff is rude and the facility is dirty. I have never needed a shower AFTER going to see a Dr.
Seriously, avoid at all costs.

If you can avoid the Rancho VA do it. This place has messed up at least 80% of my appointments. Currently I am sitting in their lobby because they did not put my test in last week when I spoke to the doctor. This Is a constant problem. They will continue to screw up your appointments by canceling and not telling you, doctor calling out, scheduling you at the wrong location, and the list goes on. I have never been treated like this from a health organization but this particular VA would rather you die then actually treat you like a decent human being. If you have a problem or need anything at all that’s even the most basic thing, I would advise to use a different facility. For those that are forced to use this location like me, I’m sorry that you have to be treated like no one cares.

If you go to VA Rancho please avoid Dr Garlapati. He will berate, will NOT listen to you symptoms and will stand tell you to shut up and kick you out. If posilsible ask for another provider that will actually sit and listen to you and your symptoms.

I would never recommend Dr. Sidhar.
I was transferred from the Nashville VA to Rancho Cucamonga VA when I moved back to California.
On my first visit, there were a few things I wanted to address. From the start he seemed rushed throughout the appointment and didn’t care to pay attention to what I had to say.
I have a skin irritation about the size of a quarter close to my ear and I told him I’d like to see a dermatologist for this. He said we will speak about this on our follow up in 6 months and prescribed me a weaker dose of a cream which I initially told him I was already using. In addition, he also asked if there were any prescriptions I’d like refilled. I named a few and since the appointment they were never refilled.
2 months later, I called his office to address that I no longer wish to wait 6 months and asked to set a consultation with a dermatologist for the original issue and also an irritated scalp. I had given my information and was told that I would be contacted to set an appointment. A week later I’ve received a call from the receptionist from Dr. Sidhar’s office asking if I’ve received a prescription for my irritated scalp. The receptionist then added that Dr. Sidhar had reviewed the note of my call a week prior and instead of allowing me to scheduling an appointment he simply just prescribed me a shampoo for my scalp. Which was not want I wanted and also failed to even tell me.
So not only was I not scheduled an appointment for my dermatologist consult but I was prescribed a shampoo that I did not ask for and also a cream that I was already using in the first place. I find this doctor unprofessional, lazy by finding short cuts and careless for our nation’s veterans.
This type and far worse are reasons why us veterans begin to loose faith in the VA.
Once again I’m let down by the VA.

Another difficult experience I have with the VA (Loma Linda and Rancho) is the inaccuracy of reports the doctors take. I will tell the doctor about my symptoms and they will translate however they feel is to the benefit of the VA. How do you trust a doctor who only half listens ? There is no trust for the VA unfortunately. My symptoms are hardly ever reported accurately and most times I have to put up a fight if I want how I am feeling to be documented correctly or referred to a specialty doctor. Then once finally been able to attend my specialty appointment the doctors is not very responsive. I’ve had my words changed many of times and it’s clear they don’t care. Why would a Dr. Chnage my words around and ask if I am okay with it? It’s clear they don’t want to write certain things down and it’s a cause to underdiagnose a patient . WHY IS THE VA PLAYING WITH PEOPLE’S HEALTH? I thought my war was over once I left Afghanistan, but it turns out the real fight just began when I asked the VA for help regarding my health. However the ladies at the call center have been very nice lately .

If I could put no stars I would. I am a veteran of operation enduring freedom. I have been experiencing health problems for years and two of the three primary care doctors I have seen here have told me this is a mental health issue basically . Even though later we have found evidence that there is an underlying problem happening with my health. The third one seems not to care and would rather send medicine , make a profit for the system. Instead of test and make sure there are not underlying conditions to additional problems I have been having.
What the system really wants the newer vets to do is buy our own health care so they can deal with us as little as possible. They take care of the older vets first and better because the government and Veterans Affairs finally admits to agent orange, so they have their hands full with those vets, no time for the younger generation of Iraq and Afghanistan. Most of us are treated like shit. They will wait for as many of us vets from this era of war to die before they provide any type of assistance. I am going to get my own healthcare and continue to see the VA because they need to do what they were put here to do. And that is support our veterans that have endured what they never will. Unless they were overseas vets as well which is I have never met one.

This is the worst VA clinic. Ever. I worked at the SFVAMC before so I know how things work. I went to this clinic for my appointment @ 1030 that the intake in Loma Linda got for me a month ago. Then the clerk told me that my appointment is at 1500. When I used to work for them, we always do a confirmation call at least a day before the appointment (I didn’t get that) so I was rescheduled for a later date (2 months from this day). This place is the epitome of bad service.

The experience starts with the front desk. The people work so hard they can’t be troubled with the Veterans. They installed these computer check in stations, so they don’t have to be bothered by the vets. Many of these men & women are 70 and up and don’t know or care how to use a computer. Then these lazy people say, ” Would you like me to come out and show you how to use it. ” Hell no just check me in.
Then I get to see a Dr. who doesn’t speak English well and all he ever does is refill my prescriptions. I feel a Dr. is much more than this.
If this is all The Veterans mean to then that is wrong. Illegal aliens get better medical attention than the vets who served this Great Country.

This is the front counter three widows all pointing you to one window.

This is wrong and not how to treat Veterans.

When I switched hospitals this was the closest one in my area. Expect long wait-times before speaking with someone (15-20mins). If you want to see a physician, even for prescription medication for a cold, you won’t be able to see someone for 6 weeks. Otherwise you will have to wait 5 hours at the ER in Loma Linda or Long Beach.
I had to wait 6 weeks to see a physician just for a routine check-up to re-register my details here, even though I had gone to another clinic, and all he did was check my blood pressure, temperature, flash a light in my eyes and ears, look at my throat, and ask a couple questions.
These community clinics, as they are known, have little access to the resources that the main hospitals do, and many times the main hospitals don’t care how much you have to spend in gas to drive there for their sometimes frequent tests.
While the kiosks typically make checking in easier they don’t allow walk-ins, which sometimes you can even get via CalOptima, an HMO, or the hundreds of varieties of insurance available to anyone, regardless of veteran status.
I recently filled out a form, 10-5345A, that’s REQUIRED for a job that I’m applying for, and have called a couple times after, and still have not received a response. This clinic is jeopardizing my future employment. I’d say it is easily unsatisfactory. The only way it would be worse so that I could give it 1-star is if the clinic was completely shut down, and abandoned with 0 staff working there.

I came in as a veteran with a temperature of 101.9. Ah first they told me to check in at the kiosk. But then I went back to tell them that I don’t have an appointment. The nurse at the front desk told me I might have to wait awhile. Then when my file was checked, I was told that I had to go to Loma Linda because I was not part of their system.
It’s really frustrating that when you are ill with a fever and many other symptoms that I was refused service. The nurse even suggested that I go to a regular er . I understand that there are protocols and such but it seems like she treated everyone else much nicer. There was no effort to see what options I had to be seen there.
If it weren’t for a supervisor that walked in and asked what was going on, there should be no effort to help me be seen. After standing at the front desk for 20 minutes, I was told to have a seat.
I was seen relatively quick after that but I was extremely frustrated with the attitude of the nurse. I was the only non Caucasian patient there. I’m not trying to make this a racial thing, but it’s just an observation.
The nurse that actually took my vitals, Christina, was very nice. Dr Lao was very nice as well.
It was just my initial contact with the front desk with absolutely no regard for my welfare. She was the only rude person that I have encountered at that clinic. She made me feel like I was making her do extra work. And when she asked me to put a mask on, it seem like someone told her to do it.
I don’t know who this nurse was but she was sitting next to Miguel on 2/3/16 at around 1 pm.

Their normal procedure goes something like this:
Tell them you really need to see a doctor right away because you are hurting. They tell you to go to an ER
Tell them you can wait a while to see a doctor, but are hurting, and would like to be seen ASAP. They tell you that they will give the doctor a message and you will be called back.
Call back the next day and you are told that the doctor got the message and will call you.
Call back the following day and you are told that the doctor said to take 2 aspirin and call back in a few weeks if it doesn’t get better. If you say you need to see the doctor right away they tell you to go to an ER.
They will give you a yearly phisical exam and flu shots. For everything else you are best off going directly to Loma Linda.

I understand that they get a huge volume of phone calls. But, the message while waiting for someone to answer the phone says “assistance is just a moment away” while the typical wait can be from 20 to 45 minutes. They should just be honest and change the message to something like “Due to the heavy volume of calls, and the personal attention given each caller, expect a long delay.” Better yet, tell how many calls are waiting ahead, like the Loma Linda VA, and let the caller be able to leave a message.
