Mission Statement – Marine Detachment, Corry Station, FL

The Marine Corps Detachment’s mission is to train Marines in basic skills associated with Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), Information Assurance (IA), and Computer Network Operation (CNO) activities. We will sustain the warrior ethos and impress upon each Marine the value of their service. Ultimately providing trained, deployable Marines to the Operating Forces.

Command History
The detachment’s lineage began in 1956 when Marines entered the Cryptologic Training Program (CTP). Aboard Naval Radio Station, Imperial Beach, California, Marines received training in the Manual Morse and Special Communications military occupational specialties while under the administrative control of Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego. In 1960, the CTP relocated to the deactivated auxiliary air station, Corry Field, Pensacola Florida, redesignated as Naval Communications Training Center (NCTC). Students undergoing cryptologic training fell under the administrative control of Marine Aviation Detachment, Naval Air Station, Pensacola. The detachment was designated as Company K, Marine Support Battalion on 1 September 1963.

On 1 July 2000, Company K was redesignated as Marine Corps Detachment, Corry Station. Currently, the detachment is a tenant of the Navy training command, Center for Information Dominance (CID), Corry Station, and falls under the operational control of Training and Education Command, Quantico, Virginia.
